Michael's passion for building prompted him to renovate properties in the New Jersey/New York City metropolitan area. He also became a licensed realtor in New Jersey. After moving from the East Coast, he began apprenticing under contractors in Arizona, Nevada and California, learning and honing his skills in the various aspects of construction to bring over twenty years of hands on contracting experience.
Prior to his career in construction, Michael earned masters degrees in economics and automotive engineering from his native Czech Republic. He initially moved to the USA as the Director of Operations for the lighting division of a Czech crystal manufacturer with a tradition of glassmaking that dates back to the 17th century. During his time with the company, he developed client relationships that led to custom lighting at Ritz-Carlton hotels and a project with renowned glass artist, Dale Chihuly.
He went back to Prague, Czech Republic for almost four years with his wife and daughters, and he started a company specializing in stone veneer installation. Clients included the Czech/Slovak distributor of insulation, roofing and stone veneer for the US company Owens-Corning; the City of Kutna Hora; and the Albatross Golf Resort in Prague.
Michael is a vegetarian, loves the outdoors, skiing and snowboarding. You may also find him practicing at the local tennis courts.
Like that of her husband Michael, Ann's path to construction and remodeling was not a direct one. She began as a classical piano major at Boston University. After attending the Career Discovery summer program in architecture at Harvard University, she then earned a BFA from The Cooper Union and was awarded the Ellen Stoeckel Fellowship from Yale University for visual arts.
Ann worked as an art director and contributor for a leading trend forecasting/marketing consulting company in New York City which specialized in product and advertising development. The client list included The Coca-Cola Company, General Motors, Mattel, Universal Studios and advertising agencies such as BBDO, Ogilvy & Mather, and Saatchi & Saatchi. She later worked as Senior Creative Manager for the National Basketball Association where she created hands-on designs, extensive brand style guides and oversaw design staff for comprehensive projects such as NBA All-Stars, WNBA All-Stars, the New York Knicks uniform design, Rhythm 'n Rims, and the NBA Store on 5th Avenue, NYC.
For many years she remodeled and sold properties then worked behind the scenes at Kamir Construction on many of the administrative needs of the business. For a while, she had diverted her time from the business to homeschool her two daughters until they entered high school. She feels that it is the combination of both professional experience with the day-to-day commitments she has to put forth towards raising a family that truly expands one's perspective. It enhances an ability to effectively pinpoint solutions with more sensibility, patience and depth.
